Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend
This music video is effective because it has very fast paced music, the music isn't too overpowering either as it doesn't use many instruments; the lyrics have a good rhythmic beat to them. The video has a few comical feature in it, such as when the "girlfriend" gets hit in the head and falls into the pond. It has many features which you could relate to possible rebels in the school environment.
In this video Avril Lavigne dresses up as both the actual girlfriend and the one who wants to be the girlfriend. In the video a series of unfortunate events happen to the current girlfriend, like getting hit in the head with a golf ball and rolling down a hill in to a porta-potty that then tips over. Avril also has clips where it's as if she's performing at a concert as she is playing/singing with her band as well as dancing clips in the same manner with dancers.
I think that this may influence my product by the fact that they have some clips show as if it was real everyday life.
I like the beat of the music as it's upbeat and it's a beat you'd be able to dance to. The lyrics are good because they are catchy. The bright colours in the video make it stand out and draws my attention as they are bright and nice colours.

Jesse McCartney - Beautiful Soul

This music video is effective because as it is aimed at older teenagers they may be able to relate to going on trips with friends and/or falling for a friend, which means that it knows how to connect to the audiences experiences.
This could influence my music video as we could film us having fun as a group and maybe walking around and messing around.

The All American Rejects- Kids in the Street

The video is effective as it shows the people who are reflecting on their late teenage life and the moments when they loose their childish innocence and become an adult which everyone goes through. It will apply to everyone as everyone who becomes an adult will eventually loose their innocence. I would say that the target audience for this video is aimed at teenagers of both genders who are from the ages of 15-21; probably students. Also I like the actors who are used as they resemble the older band members as well as the story within the song.
The song is suited to the genre we are aiming for as well as having a relation to the youth of today as it's all about teenagers going out and having 'fun'.
There song is about the member's of the band reflecting back on a party they all went to when they were teenagers but think of themselves as much older.
The items and actors used in the video make it more believable as they act and do things that people would be likely to do in their youth; that they may come to regret. The song has got good editing and props as they have quick transitions as well as flashes.
Tyson Ritter, lead singer of The All American Rejects said this about Kid's in the Street "It's about that moment in life when you're burning the last of the 'candle of innocence' right before you start to burn the one of cynicism that comes with being an adult.".
The video will affect our music video as they have shown an interesting video that could make us do a video about being an adult or teenager and the troubles that come from the things that are done by teenagers.
I like the music video as I think that the music can link to people who are of my age, which is 18, but also that the fact that the music video has got a twist showing both young and older versions of the singers and is telling a story about when they 'loose their innocence as a kid and become an adult'. Some of the elements that I think would be good in the video would be the editing that they used, such as the props and the sound effects.

Imagine Dragon's- Radioactive

The video is interesting as it shows teddy bears fighting each other. The video starts with a wide angle shot and helps to set up the story of the song. This video also has a unique video theme as it shows the people using the toy bears to fight for their entertainment and makes it a different video to watch. Another thing is that the use of these bears could represent that people have strength in side them that and it doesn't matter what you look like and you don't have to look a certain way to be strong. Also the video could mean that nothing lasts for ever and some thing s you can't imagine are possible you just need to believe in yourself and have no doubts. Another thing is that the song uses an interesting music video as the video is done using puppets and makes the song interesting as its a very unusual concept in today's society which could link to the fighting that is forced between the toy bears and that change is happening.
This music video could influence us by making us use some sort of toys within the video, such as Lego.
I like this video because in the end the weak and defenseless bear stands up for himself and beats the monster as well as the evil owners and his henchmen. I like how the video is shown and the camera techniques that are used to tell it. Also I enjoyed the the music as it is interesting and also fun to watch as well as nice to listen to. The song is about standing up for yourself and not expecting things to change by doing nothing, you need to make the change happen yourself, else nothing will change. Some sound affects that are used include a ringing of a bell for the fight to begin that could also be symbolism for the start of the attraction which is traditionally used at the start of a boxing match. The title of the song is radioactive which would make you think of some of disorder or problem and in a way there is as the toys are being forced to fight and the only way to survive is to beat the 'Champ'. I like the video as the underdog who is seen as weaker and less capable than the 'Champ' toy defeats the 'Champ' as well as beating the .

Adam Lambert - If I Had You

Within this music video it shows the singer himself organising a party with his friends and then going to said party within the forest where he dresses in steampunk and everyone else looks like magical creatures.
The intended target audience for this music video is most likely females in their late teens, early twenties. Seeing as he came second in American Idol in 2009, his target audience are most likely American students who are interested in other music idols such as David Bowie because of the androgynous look he presents.
What is effective about this music video is the fact that Adam Lambert himself is shown and doing a mixture of acting, dance and singing. This is complimented by a variety of shot types and camera angles such as establishing shots and close up's to show where he is and what expression he is showing. Likewise the mise en scene is extremely effective and influential to me because the costumes everyone is wearing is alternative despite the music genre and the lighting is dark which insinuates how mysterious the surroundings are. This is reinforced by the special effects of the neon flashes across the screen and all the different tints it is filmed in.
The text could possibly influence my own production through the costume design and how fast paced the song is with the music clips, in which everything is visually appealing and different for the audience to watch.

 One Mile Left -Teenage Dirtbag

Within this music video it shows the band playing the song together but still having friendship problems with everything. It follows the original storyline of 'Teenage Dirtbag' by Wheatus.
The intended target audience for this music video is most likely teenage boys and girls from the age of 13-17 who are into the alternative scene. They would most likely be American due to where the band originate from and how the song is known to be American. Other media consumption would be listening and reading Kerrang!magazine and radio and liking other bands such as Paramore and New Found Glory.
What is effective about this music video is that all the band are shown and it's filmed in a home environment which allows the audience to connect with the band and feel like there is something they can relate to. It also shows a variety of shot types which allows the establishment to be shown and also show the band members from different angles which can give off different attitudes. By also having a lot of close up it's allows expression to be viewed.
The text could possibly influence my own production through the variety of shot types and the fact that there is occasional lip-syncing.

Will.I.Am ft Britney Spears - Scream and Shout

This chosen text is effective in the way that it suits our group genre of Pop and Dance. The rhythm and beat of the text is on point and flows really well. The lyrics and beat come together, as we can make up our own dance from it. There isn't any swearing as it is the clean version.
The music video is about everyone partying and having the time of their lives - letting out all the stress, and living life to it's full. Britney is singing about being the centre of attention, which suits the style of the song. I like the music video because the title reflects the mood of parties. The beat is very sharp, yet it weaves through the rhythm and makes it sound like a party song. Also, it can be used for music on catwalks, which is about strutting your stuff - showing off.
The sounds effects are good, as they echo quite a lot like it does in clubs and party halls. There are many special effects like multiplying the celebrities and back-up dancers. For example, when Britney is lying down, she is multiplied both up and down. Will.I.Am and Britney Spears are major icons in the 21st Century, and so their music will reach high in the music charts.

Jessie J ft Big Sean and Dizzee Rascal - Wild

This is the second song that I will analyse, for my research. At the beginning of this music video, Jessie is strutting onto the set, and the only sound that you can hear is her heels clacking on the floor. This demonstrates her mood during the video. Although it has the same sharp but flowing beat as "Scream and Shout", it is different in the sense that the aim is about how Jessie feels about her life at the moment  - tours, gigs, money, fame and fans. The featuring artists show that she is comfortable with collaborating with different artists of different genres of music.
This music video is effective, as it leads the viewer into an awesome beat, which turns up louder after a few seconds. It's definitely the very style of beat for Hip Hop and Pop songs. The title of the song "Wild", already has told the viewer the aim of the song and what it means. I really like the way that the screen is blacked out when the title "Wild" comes up, as it stands out as it is the main theme of the song. As Jessie walks on to the set, she takes off her top which portrays that she isn't afraid to be herself, again showing us that she is "Wild". There is no one behind the camera, which shows her individuality. Also, Jessie's outfits are kept simple, but because they are so unique, they stand out even more.

The All American Rejects Website
The All-American Rejects website has the image from their most recently released album 'Kids In The Street' which is promoting their latest album. It also has their most bought song 'Gives you Hell' on the websites and playable to try and get more people to buy there older music as well as there new music. The website also has a navigation bar that easily allows people to go around the website and find the information they want easily. The website is well laid out and isn't clustered making it easier for people to view and allowing for people to not be distracted by lots of images and videos. The text that is used is themed to The All-American Rejects and makes the website have a house style that is consistent through out making it easier for a person to know were everything is fits the same on every page.
The web site may influence us to make a website that is more suited to the a pop/ rock thyme and may help with the designing and creating of our website. We may also use or base our website on a similar style to help create a website that will help make a well structured site that we can make well laid out and include the images of the musician(s) we have used for our band.
I like the website as they have a good colour scheme and don't overcrowd the website with lots of different colours making it harder to find. I also like the music and band who's website this is as well as the images and layout of the site. I think that we could use a navigation bar at the top of the screen so that it is easy to maneuver around the website as well as making it clearly visible to the user so they always know were it is.

Imagine Dragons Website
The imagine dragons website has a side bar with a list of all their music which is also playable and there new album 'Night Vision' to make it more popular and to try and promote it which we could also try and do though it may be difficult to create on our website. There website also uses clouds in the sky as there background which could represent the imagination from their name 'Imagine Dragons'. It also shows and has a link to a website were you can buy tickets to go to their gigs and when and where they are going to be.
Imagine dragons also has a link to social networking sites such as Facebook and twitter, this helps fans to link themselves with the band to help promote their music. Imagine Dragons also has their album view able on their website so that people could look at their album.

-Andrew

 Imagine Dragons Website
What is effective about this website is that as soon as you click on it, you are presented with the bands name in large, bold text - as well as the latest album name, therefore automatically presenting you with information that you would need to know. It also has a visually appealing background that is interesting and not put the target audience off. At the top of the website there is also a noticeable navigation bar that leads you to music, videos, news, stores etc so you can work your way through the website in an easy and accessible manner. There is also a lot of advertisement of the band, with previews of the songs on the album and the the album cover shown on the side to get maximum interest of the viewer and give them a little taste of what the band has to offer. The website also offers a variety of social networking sites to be contacted by, such as FaceBook, Twitter and YouTube.
I believe that the target audience of Imagine Dragons is both males and females, with a high consideration of them being British due to their number one song being used for a lot of advertisement. I also believe the target audience would most likely be in the E socio-economic group as they're mostly unemployed students that are in education. Therefore they are between the age of fifteen to twenty-one. Other media consumption they would consume is listening to bands such as Owl City because of the beats in lots of their songs are similar.
I like this website considerably due to the fact it is both informative and visually appealing for the viewer, with complimentary colours to satisfy that of the viewer. It also gives the viewer a choice a websites to see the band through, making them flexible as a source of information and music.
I think the website will influence my own production because of the fact is gives a mixture of information and appearance and also has a nice colour scheme that represents the band well and gives a house style that makes them recognisable.

Lady Gaga's Website
What is effective about this website is that as soon as you click on it, you are lead to the website where a pop up appears advertising her new song and giving you a place to download it from. This straight away grabs the viewers attention and even if they don't download it straight away, on the website it shows you her latest and most popular music videos - giving the viewer the opportunity to get a taste of her music before deciding whether to download the songs. There is also a navigation bar at the top of the site leading the viewer through the website by showing the news, gallery, releases etc of Lady Gaga making it easy for them to work their way through. I also think the background is effective because it shows Lady Gaga herself and at the same time is subtly promoting her new album. Furthermore at the bottom of the website there is a link to her Twitter, giving you the option to be able to follow her and leave a tweet - as well as showing the viewer the latest tweets she has written showing she is an active member on the website.
I believe the target audience of Lady Gaga is most both males and females, even if the music is more hinted towards females. Seeing as Lady Gaga is a world wide phenomena her target audience is generally everyone but I believe she's mainly viewed by American and English people from the age of eleven to mid-twenties. Therefore they fall into the E socio-economic group as they are in education and most likely unemployed. Other media consumption this target audience would consume is other pop music artists such as Katy Perry and Rihanna whilst being interested in things such as fashion and appearances.
I like this website due to the fact that the artist herself is shown, giving a face to the name and also making the website more interesting to look at and Lady Gaga almost presents herself as a piece of art, looking intricate and different every time. Furthermore like the previous website, there is information available, giving an insight on what the artist is like and giving the audience a chance to see what the artist gets up to and perhaps making some sort of connection between them.
I think the website will influence my own production because I like the idea of having the artist on show so there will be recognition between a name and the person who creates the music. As well there is a link to social networking sites and a simplistic but interesting house style.

Katy Perry's Website
http://www.katyperry.com/

The websites layout is quite simple and it is easy to move around the site as it always has the navigation bar near the top of the page to take you to different pages. The background of the website is quite artistic and scenic, this makes it look attractive and more feminine; which is good because Katy Perry seem to be targeted more at teenage or young adult females. The colour scheme also suggests that she may be mainly aimed at females as there is quite a bit of pink text. Above the navigation bar of every page is a countdown clock till her new album Prism is out. I think this site will influence our product because it has a simple layout and isn't crowded of complicated and we could use that style on ours, as well as making the website to reflect ourselves and our target audiences.
Personally I like the way that each section is clearly divided and seperate, I also like the colours used as they're not to overpowering or bright.

Hurts Website
http://www.informationhurts.com/gb/home

This websites layout is very good, as when you scroll down all the little updates are separated into separate boxes. On their updates they have things like their Instgram pictures, tour dates, news about their albums and Spotify. They have a back ground that doesn't move when you're scrolling show a constant replay of the video for their song "Somebody To Die For". Their is a gap between the navigation bar at the top of the page and the where all the update boxes are, where you can clearly see the video playing. Next to their name at the top left hand corner is a button which you can click and it removes all contents of the page so you are able to clearly see the video with nothing overlapping it. You can re click it to bring everything back as well. I think that this could influence our own web page design by influence us to have a background that all our notification scroll over and that doesn't move.

Beyonce Website
http://www.beyonce.com/

The Beyonce website immediately grabs the viewer's attention, as it is laid out in the structure and colours (black and pink) of her latest album. The navigation bar at the very top is easy to reach and gives you different links within the website. Again, it is in the same colour as her latest album, thus attracting the viewer. Also, it isn't just random links, but very useful ones, as she is famous on Tumblr, thus you can follow her there, and links to her latest music and current tour gives the viewer much easier access to keeping up-to-date with her. The top left corner allows you to purchase her album, and the top right is a search bar, in case you are in need of specific information. Additionally, the layout on the rest of the page is almost like Tumblr, as they are also links, with hash-tags, to keep you in touch with her latest music video and personal life.

Beyonce's target audience is mainly women from the ages of 20 and above, but with her being a world-wide superstar, she reaches out to all types of people - men and women alike. I really like this website, as it portrays Beyonce enormously throughout, illustrating her as the perfect role model for everyone in her target audience. Again, the different links on the front page gives you countless information, and not only that, it is intriguing as it is all made in style. This website is an amazing example to look at, as it shows me a unique way to create a website, showing-off our band and making it stand out before others.

Demi Lovato Website
http://demilovato.com/

Demi Lovato's website is a lot more different, in comparison to Beyonce's, as it is all white. However, it has a banner at the very top of the page, advertising her latest song 'Neon Lights', and tour 'The Neon Lights Tour'. Her name at the top left is very simple yet unique, leading to the navigation bar which hold links to different information the viewer may want to know. The main attraction takes up most of the page - her news. It is effective as it keeps the viewer up-to-date with her tour, like Beyonce's, and also shows photos which may also interest the viewer. On the other side of the page, there is her Instagram photos on show, as she is constantly uploading there, so you can also keep in touch with her personal life and interests. This thereafter leads on to the tour dates, showing the latest dates and where she is at the present time, including the dates, venues, locations and tickets.

Demi Lovato's target audience is namely younger girls who are in need of inspiration and suffer from life struggles, like Demi did. However, she also reaches out to others, such as homosexual males, who look up to her as their idol/ role model. This particular website reaches out to me as an inspiration for my group, as it seems so simple, yet at the same time it is very pleasing to look at and access. Also, it is in the same layout we were planning to do as a group. I believe that this website will be great to use to structure our own.

Justin Bieber Poster

What is effective about this music poster is that the main artist himself is shown and centered, grabbing the viewers attention immediately. It is also a close up, showing the artists face and expression he is holding within his eyes - giving the opportunity for his fans to relate. Furthermore the song he is advertising is capitalised and shown in big letters, with the white thick line contrasting against the clothes Justin Bieber is wearing, which stands out immediately to the audience. This is a big form of advertisement and likewise, at the top of the screen it has the artists name in white lettering just so the viewer can match up the name with a face.

What I like about this music poster is primarily the lighting and the fact they've included the name of the song and the artists face. I find the lighting very interesting and the effect is has upon the photograph is actually really visually appealing and something that I like to look at.

This poster could influence my production as when we're making our music posters I would like to have an interesting angle of the band and likewise include a visually appealing effect over the top, emphasising the positives of the photograph.

Adam Lambert Poster

What is effective about this music poster is that the main artist himself is shown and centered with lots of bright neon colours coming from within and near him, grabbing the viewers attention immediately. Not only does the galaxy background make the poster much more interesting and unique to look at but it is complimented by the facial expression Adam Lambert is wearing, reinforcing the mysterious aura. Furthermore right in the middle of the poster is eye-catching capitalized letters showing the artists name and the tour that he is promoting, with the bottom showing all the details in smaller font that the audience would need to know. By also including the album cover of his latest CD it not only sells the tour but the CD and increases his popularity in general.

What I like about this music video is the fact that there is a mid-shot of the artist wearing alternative and interesting clothing with after effect editing complimenting the photograph and making it just that bit more interesting to look at.

This poster could influence my production by having a variety of color and an interesting pose of the artist which would capture the interest of any possible audience. Likewise we could have more information on the bottom of our poster so it isn't just an image.

- Stacey

Katy Perry Poster
This poster is in the style of an old movie poster from the early 20th century, the colours are bright but not too in your face and it looks like it was done in a mix of water colour and pastels. The importance of the people/animals show in the picture is shown by their distance to the audience, as the main woman (Katy Perry) is the closest to you and then it's the tiger which is also a large part of the story of this song. I would say that this poster would mainly be aimed at and appeal to women in their late teens and their 20's, as it shows a women that is just as capable to live in the jungle just as much as a man and that men and women are equals, therefore empowering women to be independent. The tiger in the poster only has its head coloured which represents that in the story it lurked in the grass and bushes until the end as did the jungle woman's own "roar". This could show that she has come 'out of her shell' and gained confidence to stand up to people, again promoting independence embracing the fact that 'coming out of your shell' is a good thing. I think that this will influence our text through the usage of distance to show importance of characters, and maybe use some hidden meanings which relate to the video and story told in it.

  Mika Poster
This poster is quite plain when compared to other artists posters. Other than the picture of his head the rest of it looks as though it has been painted onto it. This could show that he doesn't view his music as something to get money form or a career but maybe a simple form of art instead. It is also a more realistic style of art that general people are capable of, this may show the what type of audiences that he aims his music or this particular song at. Even the photo of him is done in an artistic style which could also back up the idea of him thinking of his actual music being art instead of a career. Most of the paint colours used seem to be natural, but to make the title of the song stand out it's done in red and pink, highlighting the importance of that piece of text and making you advert your eyes to look at it. The 'painted' bugs in the poster are holding or doing something unnatural to their everyday life, this could show that his music is aimed at people that don't follow the mainstream styles and therefore reflecting his own music. Lastly, his name as well as Ariana Grande is very simple with no colour to it. I believe that this is because Mika as a general artist isn't very flashy in the work that he does or the videos that he makes and they all seem to be pretty simple and cheap and it shows that he may be more down to earth than most artists and can relate to the people he targets his music at.

-Neil.

Imagine Dragons Poster
The poster is effective as it shows the band in an interesting way and makes the band look like a mysterious band group as they have got a fog around them which makes them more mysterious looking and makes them look different from other posters. The poster also has the name of the band as well as albums name, it also has the names of other band's who will be on tour with them as well as where and when it will be. This will be necessary to put on a poster as it will be necessary to show to the audience the information that they need. The title stands out clearly ans attracts people to the name Imagine Dragons, which easily attracts the interest of the audience. I think this would be a good thing to transfer to our own product as it will make the title stand out more as well as make our poster look professional and well designed. I would say that the target audience for the poster would be teenagers who are interested in the pop genre of music. Also the use of silhouettes could be interesting to use for our music poster.

All American Rejects Poster
I think that the all american rejects poster looks interesting and unusual and would most likely be able to attract more people who are teenagers as it is unusual and may make people of both genders attracted to the poster as well as the people who are on the poster as they may already like the music they are listening. The genre of these artist is Alternative rock but there more recent work is more pop. I think that by doing an interesting poster it's more likely to attract people to the poster and catch their eye. Another point would be that the poster uses more than one person and a has a group of people all in different poses, this could be an interesting way to do a poster. The poster uses a black and white image but also shows the unusual objects in colour which makes them stand out more than they would if it was all in colour, this would be a good way to attract the audiences attention to a certain aspect of the poster.

-Andrew

Britney Spears Poster
The first aspect of this poster that grabs the viewer's attention, is the main artist being shown on the whole poster. She is portrayed in a seductive way, not just by the cheeky-looking facial expression, but also the seducing lip colour and eye make-up. The picture takes over the writing, as it is this which first attracts the viewer to look at it. Another main attraction of the picture is the way Britney Spears is making eye contact - she looks right at the viewer, almost as if she is inviting them in.

The writing at the bottom of the poster is in a sort of metallic silver, which goes well with Britney Spears' blond hair and fair skin tone. The album title 'Femme Fatale', is in very fancy writing, along with the artist's name, thus demonstrating the link to her and her fan's personalities. What I really like about this poster is the way the spotlight seems to be on her, and only her, making sure that the viewer understands that this album is Britney-based. I think that this will be a good inspiration for our band's poster, as it focuses more on the artist than anything else.

Miley Cyrus Poster
Unlike the Britney Spears 'Femme Fatale' poster, this one shows not only the main artist, but also the tropical yet Vegas-like background. The whole poster represents the new Miley Cyrus, which is very effective as there is a mixture of a tropical style, and a Las Vegas style, with the neon sign showing-off the title of the album. This is all in complete contrast with the main attraction of the picture - the artist's body. This makes the poster seem more effective and stands out, as Miley Cyrus is in a suit, thus showing the viewer the classier side of her.

Another great factor which makes this poster effective, is the use of colour. It isn't too bright that it hurts your eyes, but more of a sunset type. I also like the way she has her body turned around, but her eyes look right at the viewer, and there is a bold purple shadow, illustrating the importance of the artist. This is what would inspire me to have in our band poster, as we want a really good angle on all the band members, in order to make them look enigmatic yet important.
